Couples therapy: £100 per couple for 70 minutes.

First step: a free 15–20 minute consultation to discuss your needs, location and availability.

Fees are in pounds sterling. Your payment provider may apply currency conversion or other charges. See fees and the starting process before booking.

Bulgarian roots, with space for your own experience

I grew up in Bulgaria and now live in the UK. That background gives me a personal connection to the language and to life between countries. It also means I know that people’s experiences of the same place can be very different.

You might have moved to Sofia for work, joined a Bulgarian partner or returned after years elsewhere. The questions may involve belonging, independence, family expectations or feeling different when you speak another language. I will ask what those things mean in your life.

You can read about my background and therapeutic approach and check my BACP directory profile. BACP registration is a UK professional reference point. It is not a claim that I hold a local clinic or a Bulgarian professional licence.

What would you like help with?

I am settled at work but lonely outside it

We can explore the relationships you miss, what makes local contact difficult and what support would fit your week. Read about feeling alone abroad.

Moving here has changed our relationship

Money, language and family connections may be shared differently after a move. Couples therapy offers a place to discuss those changes and the arguments or decisions that follow.

I came for my partner and lost my own direction

Your work, friendships and independence deserve attention too. Explore trailing partner support and identity after moving for a partner.

I keep worrying about my relationship

We can consider the worry alongside what is happening between you. See relationship anxiety therapy for how I approach this work.

If you and your partner come from different cultures

You may have different expectations about family involvement, privacy, money, visits or where your future should be. We can make those expectations explicit without assuming that one country or family represents the right way to live.

I will ask each of you to describe your experience. A Bulgarian background does not mean I automatically share one partner’s view or speak on their behalf. Both people need room to be understood.

For joint work, both partners attend the free consultation. Individual background meetings follow before joint sessions, with their fees and confidentiality arrangements agreed first. Read more about cross-cultural couples therapy.

Privacy, suitability and booking from Bulgaria

Before we begin, I check where you will physically attend from, whether the proposed work fits your needs and the relevant professional and insurance conditions. We agree how confidentiality works and what to do if local support is needed. Read online therapy abroad: suitability.

You need a place where you can speak safely and privately. If you would prefer to write, written counselling is £50 per week for one personal reply from me through Carepatron on an agreed day, subject to suitability. It is not live chat or emergency support.

When you enquire, include that you are in Bulgaria and the times you are available. A brief description of your concern is enough to start. You do not need to send your whole history in an initial message.

Questions you may have

Are you an English-speaking therapist based in Sofia?

I am Bulgarian-born and based in the UK. I offer online sessions in English to suitable clients in Sofia and across Bulgaria. I do not provide in-person appointments from a Sofia clinic.

How much does online therapy cost?

Individual sessions cost £70 for 50 minutes. Joint couples sessions cost £100 per couple for 70 minutes. The introductory consultation is free and lasts 15–20 minutes. Fees are charged in pounds sterling.

Can you work with me and my Bulgarian partner?

Potentially, after a suitability conversation with both of you. Joint sessions are in English, so both partners need to be comfortable participating in that language. We check both locations and agree the starting process before therapy.

Can I book if I live elsewhere in Bulgaria?

You can enquire. I check your physical location, needs and the conditions for online work before agreeing appointments. The same review applies if you travel or move during therapy.

Do you offer therapy in Bulgarian?

The service described on this page is therapy in English. Please ask before booking if you need support in another language rather than assume it is available.
