What does feeling alone look like for you?

Perhaps weekends feel empty. You may have moved, lost touch with friends, become a parent or reached a point where your relationship feels lonely. You might know people to spend time with but have nobody you feel able to turn to.

The NHS guidance on loneliness describes different experiences of disconnection. We begin with yours, rather than assuming you simply need to socialise more.

How we can approach loneliness in therapy

We can look at the connection you are missing and what happens when you try to reach for it. That might involve fear of rejection, exhaustion, past hurt, practical isolation or relationships where you feel unable to be yourself.

  • Notice when loneliness is strongest and what you need in those moments.
  • Explore patterns of withdrawing, pleasing others or keeping difficult feelings hidden.
  • Consider realistic ways to build or deepen connection at your pace.
  • Make space for grief when a friendship, relationship or familiar community has changed.

Therapy offers a place to understand these experiences. It does not replace friendships or community. We can consider what support outside sessions would matter to you too.

Work directly with Kita

I am Kita Tabachka, a BACP-registered therapist working with relationships, anxiety and the emotional experience of life abroad. You can come as an individual even if you are married or in a relationship.

If moving country is central to your experience, explore online therapy for expats. If speaking in real time feels difficult, we can discuss whether weekly written counselling is appropriate.

What does it cost?

Individual online sessions in English cost £70 for 50 minutes through Carepatron. The initial 15–20 minute consultation is free. We discuss what you need, privacy, your location and whether working together feels suitable. International appointments depend on location and suitability.

You do not need a diagnosis or a polished explanation to enquire. A sentence about what has been difficult is enough. See the fees and starting process.
